No, registered post does not deliver on Sunday since post offices are closed during that time. But on Saturday, Registered Post is delivered, and in the case of special occasions or festivals, delivery is made even on weekends to assure the package is received on time.

Yes, you can send eatables with registered post. Before sending in the package, they ensure there is no leakage that could spoil the overall parcel. People often vacuum seal the packages before sending them in. It also avoids pilferage along with leakages, but any kind of liquid is not allowed.

POD stands for proof of delivery. Pod is the post card size document. While booking registered post, you can fill out this form(Sender & receiver name & address), which is stapled with your letter. Once the letter is delivered to its destination, the same acknowledgement slip is signed by the recipient of the letter. That signed acknowledgment slip is delivered back to the sender by ordinary post.

20-How to book a register post?
Booking Registered Post is simple: place your documents or articles in an envelope and take it to the post office (no postal stamp required). The post office booking clerk will paste a barcode on the letter and book it for your destination; once booked, you will be given a booking receipt.
Note: If you want to send 2-4 pages, you can purchase an envelope at the post office, but if your message is bigger, make sure you carry your own envelope from the stationery store as post office envelopes are small in size, which will cost you Rs.5/-.

21 Is it safe to register a post?
The Registered Post is completely safe and secure. You can be assured that your package will reach the right hands at the right time. Registered mail can be tracked while in transit.
22-What if a registered post is not delivered due to the wrong address or accepted by the addressee?
If Registered Post is not delivered due to the absence of the addressee, the package is kept at the post office (window delivery) for the next 5 days by leaving an intimation slip at home or office, and the right recipient can collect the package from the post office by showing ID card within the next 5 days.
If the addressee's address is wrong and not found by the postman, then those letters are returned to the sender on the same day.
If the addressee does not accept the delivery of registered post for any reason, those letters are returned to the sender by putting a remark on the letter as refused by the addressee.

24-How to write a Registered Post address on an envelope?
To send a registered post letter, one needs to write the sender and receiver addresses on the envelope. Firstly, the addressee (receiver) address should be written on the upper left side of the envelope, and the sender address should be written on the back side of the envelope at the right side bottom.

There are two methods to register our complaint regarding Registered Post's lack of delivery or delay in delivery.
1-One can visit the post office where Registered Post was booked and submit a written complaint addressed to the Postmaster. In the letter you need to write the sender address, receiver(addressee) address, date of booking, your contact number, and attach a copy of the Registered Post booking receipt.
Please note that complaints can be accepted at the booking office only.
The second method is that you can register your complaint online on the India Post website by just providing basic details like: tracking ID number, destination pin code, sender pin code, your contact number,sender address, receiver address, copy of booking receipt to be uploaded etc. Once you register, the compliant system will generate a complaint number. That number can be used further to track complaint status.

27-Can Registered Post be recalled if it is returned to the sender post?

Registered Post service is given to the department of Posts by the Indian government. That’s why it's cheaper as compared to courier service.

Registered Post tracking data is stored for 90 days only.
38-What to do if my registered post arrives home but nobody is at home to collect it?
On the day of arrival of Registered Post if you are not present at home, the beat postman will leave an intimation slip at your home about the arrival of the letter with his mobile number on it. If you collect it on the next day from the post office , you have to carry ID proof and address proof. If you do not collect the letter from the post office the next morning, the postman will bring it a second time for delivery if you are still not available at home. It will be kept in deposit for 5 days at the delivery post office. After 5 days from the date of intimation, the letter will be returned to the sender as "unclaimed."
If it is returned to the sender, you have to start correspondence with the sender. They will resend it.
39-Will I get an SMS alert for registered post delivery?
Yes, DOP has introduced sms service of delivery , but while booking Registered Post at the counter, you should tell the booking clerk to put your mobile number in the booking software so that you get a timely update of your Registered Post and confirmation of delivery.
40-Can a family member or friend collect my registered post on behalf of me?
No, family members can not collect registered post on behalf of the actual receiver. It is at the sole discretion of the postman. The postman decides whether to hand over the letter to the family member or not.

If the residential address is changed, we can submit a change of address letter to the post office from where our letters are delivered regularly. Post office staff make note of your new address. Now, whenever the post office receives your letter, those letters are redirected to your new address.Letter redirection is valid for 3 months only. After 3 months, no letter will be redirected to your new address.Please note that the passport and driving licence are not redirected to a new address.While submitting a change of address application, you need to carry your photo id and address proof copy such as an Aadhar card or driving license.
48-What to do if a Registered Post parcel is stuck at the customs department for a long time?
The customs department and the postal department are both separate government departments. Whenever a parcel enters the country, it directly goes to customs department custody. The customs department assesses the duty according to rules and regulations. Once the custom duty is assessed, then it is handed over to the postal department for delivery. Once the parcel is released from the customs department, it is delivered to the addressee at the stipulated time.
If a parcel becomes stuck at the customs department for any reason, the postal department cannot intervene; customs clearance is not the postal department's responsibility; in such cases, the customer should contact the respective customs department.

No, a registered letter cannot be addressed to a post box number because registered post is addressee specific and it is given only to the addressee.
